WNYMuslims Presentation on Islam at BOCES
WNYMuslims was invited to BOCES to talk about Muslims in the Workplace. Professor Faizan Haq gave a very lively and informative lecture on this topic. Faizan Haq teaches Islamic Studies at University at Buffalo and Intercultural Communications at Buffalo State College. The audience was quick to jump in and ask questions and share with everyone their experiences. It was a great forum for the community to have open and honest dialogue.

Interview with Pakistani Folk Artist - Arif Lohar
WNYMuslims had the unique opportunity recently to interview Pakistan’s most popular contemporary folk singer, Arif Lohar. Mr. Lohar was invited by ARTSWego on the SUNY Oswego campus to celebrate the cultural diversity in the last event of a series called Caravanserai, which translates to “a place where cultures meet”. Caravanserai was known as safe havens or roadside inns, where travelers would gather after a long journey. At night, the travelers would stop to rest and exchange various stories around a fire. It now stands as a name that represents a program which aims to gain a better understanding of cultures throughout the Islamic world. This year’s focus country was Pakistan. Oswego State is one among five other communities nationwide to host a stretch of landmark performances by Arif Lohar, Arooj Aftab, and other musicians. We would like to thank them for inviting WNYMuslims to be a part of this great event.
