WILLIAMSVILLE, NY — Despite overcast skies and intermittent rain throughout the day, Island Park in Williamsville once again came alive as families, community leaders, organizations, and residents gathered for the WNY Health Fair & Pakistan Independence Day Celebration 2026.
The program opened with Faizan Haq, Founding President of WNYMuslims, who welcomed attendees and officially opened the event. A serene Quranic recitation followed, setting a reflective tone and highlighting the values of community, gratitude, and service.
In his remarks, Faizan Haq spoke about the important contributions of immigrants to the United States and welcomed Dr. Riffat Sadiq, CEO of WNYMedical and WNYCHC, recognizing their partnership and support as co-sponsors of the event.
A special portion of the program honored distinguished community leaders and dedicated volunteers whose service and commitment continue to strengthen Western New York. Their recognition reflected the importance of leadership, volunteerism, and community collaboration.
The celebration also showcased the richness of Pakistani and South Asian culture through a lively marketplace featuring traditional cuisine, ethnic attire, jewelry, henna artistry, and health and wellness vendors. The health fair provided valuable resources promoting healthy living, while the cultural offerings created opportunities for connection and shared appreciation.
The festivities reached a memorable high point with a musical performance by Pakistani singer Saima Kashif, whose soulful melodies brought together audiences of diverse backgrounds and added to the celebratory spirit of the day.
WNYMuslims extends its sincere appreciation to the Village of Williamsville, Erie County, and the State of New York for their continued support, which helped make this the fifth consecutive WNYMuslims event at Island Park.
More than a celebration, the WNY Health Fair & Pakistan Independence Day 2026 was a reflection of the community's resilience, diversity, and unity. Despite the weather, attendees came together to celebrate heritage, promote wellness, recognize service, and strengthen the bonds that make Western New York a vibrant and welcoming community.
