Chicago Shooting

Chicago Shooting

"We belong to Allah and to Allah we shall return’ [Al-Qur’an 2:157].
BUFFALO, NY - July 6, 2022: The Independence Day parade in suburban Chicago on Monday July 4, turned into an ominous horror-filled site, when a gunman from a rooftop opened fire on the crowd, killing 7 people, wounding at least 30 and left hundreds of marchers, parents with strollers and children on bicycles fleeing in terror and fled.
After an hours-long manhunt in and around Highland Park, an affluent community of about 30,000 on Chicago’s north shore, Robert E. Crimo III, 21, was seized, who has confessed to committing the heinous crime and admitted dressing up as a woman to blend in with the crowd before climbing on the roof, looking through his sights and firing down the street with a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic rifle...
After schools, churches, grocery stores and now community parades have all become killing grounds in recent months. This time, the bloodshed came as the nation tried to find cause to celebrate its founding and the bonds that still hold it together.

We all must stand shoulder to shoulder against irrational violence and its hateful propagation. WNYMuslims denounces such appalling acts. We believe that these perpetrators are disconnected from humanity and its obligations. We strongly believe that the misdeeds of a few members don’t reflect their whole community. We request the community not to be judgmental and to be patient in this grave situation. "O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient." (Qur'an, 2:153)
