Arabic Language Principal

Description:

ACCESS WNY is seeking a principal for our Arabic Language Program.  We are the only Arabic Language program in Western New York for youth aged 5yr-15yr.  As a program of excellence, we strive to create an enriching environment for youth to learn and master the Arabic Language.  Our program has been in existence since 2007 and average 110 students during a 9 month academic year. Description: Arabic Language Principle

Qualifications

  • Preferably has an Arabic Language Degree/Teaching Degree
  • Experience in staff and volunteer management
  • Experience in working with children ages 5-14
  • Experience in working with service-learning and education systems
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and donation solicitation
  • Proficient with computers, internet, spreadsheet (Excel), and word processing programs
  • Strong desire to impact the lives of children and youth

 Reporting

  • Reports to and is supported by the Executive Director

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising program staff and volunteers daily

Length of Employment

  • Minimum 1 year management and teaching Arabic Language experience

 Overview of Responsibilities

  • Daily on-site direction of the program and staff
  • Hire and/or supervise program staff
  • Training and ongoing support of program staff
  • Make presentations to the community
  • Make presentations to the school, businesses, and community agencies
  • Meet regularly with the principal at Wyatt Edison and Rocky Mountain PeaceJam Director
  • Work closely with school staff- particularly the after school program liaison
  • Oversee evaluation activities
  • Develop program overview and work with staff to plan daily activities
  • Initiate and maintain regular communication with parents
  • Coordinate development and implementation of the Arabic Language Program
  • Manage behavioral incidents beyond the control of group leaders and maintain a high level of behavioral expectations
  • Provide oral and written reports to PeaceJam, the public, and Wyatt Edison
  • Facilitate partnerships with appropriate public and private agencies that provide services to the students and families
  • Develop procedures and policies for operation of the after school program including
  • Establish and maintain communication with members of the school staff about student needs and aspects of the afterschool program
  • Manage assigned budget and prepare additional proposals for supplemental funding and donations of materials
  • Analyze and apply information from periodic program evaluations
  • Maintain records needed for program administration
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Special Requirements

  • Car required for program material transportation daily
  • Arabic and English language proficiency a required
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Steadiness under pressure or in stressful situations
  • Strong people skills
  • Background check required

Salary/Schedule

  • Classes run for (2) hour sessions: 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm Saturday and Sunday
  • Pay based on experience.
