WNY Muslims has been playing an active role in World Hijab Day. The first World Hijab Day was celebrated in 2013. It is an annual event that takes place on February 1. It is an idea brought forward by Nazma Khan. It is an event that encourages non-hijabi women to experience the perspective of what hijabi women experience. It is a worldwide event that encourages Muslim and non-Muslim women to wear the hijab, and experience life of a Hijabi woman. World Hijab Day is an event celebrated in 116 countries today.
