Meet the Editorial Board

WNYMuslims has an editorial board to help WNYMuslims make decisions as well as update the website with lively and informative information, and brainstorm innovative ideas. Just like volunteers and interns, all are welcome, we are looking for all individuals from the community. If interested please e-mail wnym@wnymuslims.org, to learn about our next meeting. 


 


Nicole is Executive Director of WNYMuslims. She graduated from University of Buffalo with a Bachelors in Political Science. She is active in the Muslim community, covering local events and engaging the community in WNYMuslims media productions. The Echo, a weekly e-newsletter from WNYMuslims is maintained by Nicole as well as social networks. As host of Olive Branch, Nicole coordinates guests and topics for these tv shows. Nicole hopes WNYMuslims becomes an alternative news source and inspires community involvement in media to change the direction of how Muslims are portrayed. 


Amani is the Associate Executive Director of WNYMuslims. She is currently a junior studying English and Journalism at the University at Buffalo with an associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology from Trocaire College under her belt. Amani joined the team after an internship with WNYMuslims in which she covered events and more notably created the ‘Muslim Spotlight’ series. Amongst other things, she is the go-to media gal for WNYMuslims. Her goal is to leave her mark on the world and to use media as a platform to change the many negative stereotypes and misconceptions Muslims are faced with. She sees WNYMuslims as an organization with vast potential, and hopes she can use her role to become a voice for Muslims everywhere while creating positive change in the community.

Hafsah is Director of Outreach/Marketing & Communications of WNYMuslims. She is a junior studying Communications at University at Buffalo. Hafsah’s passions include serving the community, making a positive difference in people’s lives, and spending time with family. She interviews community members as part of the Capturing History project and oversees the website, weekly newsletter, social media, and all other outreach projects, Her vision is to take WNYMuslims to its highest potential, creating awareness, diversity, and providing the best of service to the community. She successfully organized the first Blanket Drive, operated the Roses of the Prophet, and has worked on several other projects within her first year.

Faizan is the Founder of WNYMuslims. He inspires WNYMuslims to keep growing with innovative ideas, presents on Islam and other subjects for the community and is a substitute host for Olive Branch. Faizan Haq has earned his Bachelors in American Studies with concentration in Intercultural Studies from University at Buffalo. His graduate course work included economics, multiculturalism and cultural history. To learn more about Faizan, please check out his website faizanhaq.net

Samantha Long is the Development Coordinator at WNYMuslims.  She has a Master's in Communication and Leadership with a Concentration in Managing Not-for-Profit Organizations from Canisius College.  She earned her Bachelor's degree in Communication from SUNY Cortland.
